Convertible trousers

I'm going away for a month to Vietnam, and as I'll be doing a mixture of trekking in jungles, on muddy mountains and more 'sightseeing' in cities, I was thinking that convertible trousers would probably be the best sort of trousers to take. Thing is, I can only find really expensive ones, and I don't want to spend £40 on a pair of trousers which I may not wear again. Soo, does anyone know of any shops or websites I may have missed which might be selling them at a cheaper price? (I've tried eBay, there is one pair in my size which could work, but we all know how easy it is to get outbid! They're around for another six days anyway)

Also, any other clothing advice for humid countries would be appreciated? What sort of material t-shirts should be, etc?

(If a mod thinks this would be better off in travel please feel free to move it. And, crap, just realised it's in Health & Relationships! Sorry, meant to put it in fashion! *Feels like an idiot*)

Anyway, thanks in advance

M&S sells some, I don't know how much though. Probably cheap. They also have some good shorts for a good price, I got a pair for my trip to China - theres a few different types from £10 I think. Worth a look, imo

Yeah, I know. I think I called myself a spaz in the above thread, but just for the full effect... I'm a twazzock...

Cheers for the links people, M&S sounds like a plan

:P: Maybe I should edit a 'like' in there... Actually, now you've pointed that out, feeling like a spaz also sounds dubious...
To be honest, I'm dubious about skimping on something like this. OK, they cost £40 but from the sound of your post you're going to be doing serious stuff.

Whilst I'm not an outdoor expert, i do do a lot of outdoorsy stuff like hiking and walking, and I can tell you now that there are certain things you will not want to skimp on in terms of cost; boots, for example. It might sound silly, but the more expensive trousers are likely to have better features such as being quick drying, water repellant to keep you dry if its raining, and so on, that cheaper trousers won't have. Some have thigns like built in mosquito repellant and all kinds of things, besides being generally lighter, more breathable, adn so on.

In short, you may well wish to consider spending a little bit more money on these kind of things. You very much get what you pay for!

Myu suggestion would be to go to a larger outdoor store such as Cotswold or Blacks, and see what they have on sale. In one of my local shops, for example, tehre are some nice £50 Hagloffs trousers reduced to £22, which had I got money I would ahve bought! In short, you might want to look at going down a middle route, as specialised outdoors clothing will be a lot more suitable and on teh whole less hastle than thing sfrom M&S and so on.
