Living at home

I'm living at home (outskirts of Liverpool) but will be studying English and Sociology at MMU. Anyone any experiences of living at home during uni? Is it easy to make friends? Freshers week?

I commuted in my first year at MMU and theres good things and bad things to it, but as long as you put yourself out there and try and make friends, you will do. Its a little bit easier for people in halls as there forced to socialise and meet people and can't really not whereas commuters can very easily just go to lecturers and seminars and not interact or get involved in university life if they wanted. As long as you talk to people in lecturers and attend events like Freshers you'll do fine, and you'll be glad your commuting when you can go home to peace and quiet when you want yet still hang out in your friends accommodation if you want to stay out and party. Best of both worlds really

One tip, just talk to everybody, every lecture or event just talk to the person next to you and don't worry about it

Oh I've not heard about that freshers fair
I'm commuting from The outskirts of Liverpool to MMU too!!!! I'm really worried about not making friends because I'm quite shy! How will I make the most of freshers if I don't know anyone!?
I'm studying law foundation and commuting from Cheshire I too am really quiet but I have bought my bands for freshers week so should hopefully help me make new friends by attending the events
