This thread is not what I expected. However I may be thick at maths, but surely the question depends on how big the melon is?

The differences in google will probably reflect that.
Yeah the thread is a bit misleading though I wouldn't be surprised if the OP new that which is why he simply left it at that

hehe. Yes I know melons vary in size... If he is right - half a ave melon would be around 250kcals.. that can't be! can it?!

What contains the most calories per gram? Wouldnt be surprised if its those M&S cookies... 400 cals each! But they're so good! Lol

If melon is 92% water what on earth do the calories consist of?!
Reply 9
Fruit sugars maybe? I'm actually surprised, I'd always thought that melons were a really low calorie food ...
Starches and Simple sugars i would think.

I'm beginning to wonder if the OP actually wanted a serious answer :p:
www.nutritiondata.com says 36 cals/100g

Half a melon estimated by that site to be about 5-600g

another site said that one quarter of a honeydew melon is 25kcals.. so it would make sense to say that one half is 50. but hey... Nutrition sites know best.. um

I love to squeeze melons, Firm melons are nice, they feel much better than loose, flabby ones.
