Is this Hayfever or not?

Ive been confused about hayfever.

I do have hayfever, get the runny nose, stinging eyes and especially in sunny days. Last year my doctor gave me citirizine which I kept in the cupboard and I use them.

Now in the past few days, it's been sunny in spells and a breeze and today it was pretty cloudy and Ive found later on in the day, my eyes start to sting and my nose starts running. The pollen isnt that high is it?

Also, when I check the mirror, on the eyelids, there's this little white sticky thing there (tough to describe) and I take it out and my eyes are abit better. Its tough to describe, on the corner of my eye, this little white sticky thing. Anyone shed any light on this?

Ive been getting up @ 3am, sneezing, itchy eyes, and tough to sleep.

Anyone help me?

Thanks

Most likely.
It is definitely more prominent this year and most superstres like Tesco's are running out of the anti-histamine tablets.

I've never had it before, but have had it this year. I know I'm allergic to something, but not sure what it is. Just take the tablets and all is good. They work for about 3 days

Its definately pollen, even though the sun isnt out much the last few days. The air has filled with pollen from the last few days of sunny weather. Weve not had any strong winds, so the air hasnt cleaned itself of pollen. So its basically lingering around reguardless to the weather conditions.

Im suffering too if its any consolation.

sounds like hayfever to me. the gunk in ur eyes is probably just excess "sleepy dust" from having irritated eyes anyway

it's hayfever. the pollen falls back down again during the coolness of the evening, as it rises in the afternoon with the heat.

the white sticky thing is 'sleep'. it's like eye mucus trying to get the pollen out of your eyes, basically. more likely to happen if you rub them, actually. i think. but yeah, it's hayfever.
make sure you take your cetirizine (can i spell? lol) every day.

Well I don't know about the eye thingy but the rest of it sounds like hayfever. Really bad hayfever. But I've never heard of it waking people up at night.

But if it is really bad hayfever then the tablets you have probably won't work, because I find that they don't get rid of the symptoms completely but ease them a little bit.

Maybe you should try homeopathic medicine, which can be taken as well as certirizine. They're like vaccinations, because they give you a small amount of the thing that causes hayfever, except it's in a tablet.

It does sound like hayfever, especially if its only in summer. The alternative is a perrenial (sp?) rhinitus allergy, which can be to stuff like dust etc. The treatment is still the same though, so doesn't make much difference!

I had to rush up to tescos today to get some antihistamines because i was sneezing so much and my eyes were starting to water. Urgh it was awful. Got some tablets now...

It is really bad for me.

I remember last year, I had a bad runny nose, this somehow caused me breathing problems at night and Id get up and cough badly. Every time I breathed, I coughed. It was due to the nose's runny nose which like got stuck my throat or something.

Just some Q's.

1. I leave my window open at night, should I close it to avoid getting irritation at night?

2. Are there any nasal sprays/eye drops which anyone could recomend from Boots etc.

3. Any natural remedy for hayfever? Ive heard having natural honey helps etc.

Thanks for all the help

definitely close the window. only open your windows on the ground floor during the afternoon if your hayfever is bad.

there are nasal sprays available but i'd talk to your gp to make sure you get the best one for you.
i'm not sure about natural remedies but try to steer clear of dairy produce - they encourage the production of mucus!

also - wash your hair really often. daily, more than! and change your clothes once you get in from outside. and don't forget to vacuum!

I went to the doctors and I spoke to him, and he's prescribed me some letocitirzine which he says are updated and should help.

Anyone else had these and do they work? I think if I go back next time, then he's going to prescribe me some nasal sprays.

Im thinking about getting some anyway, anyone know any good ones to get from Boots?

Beconase is what i have on prescription. Its cheaper to buy it over the counter. Lasts me a few months, but i only use it when i start getting the sniffles.
