Sorry to hear that m8. I think lots of people do get strange rejections, so don't take it to heart.

Well I've applied for psychology, which is probably similarly competitive to get in to, so I wouldn't be particularly surprised with your rejection. With so many similarly qualified people to a place it's partly luck - so just look at it as a lottery.
If it was yuor first choice though ring them, they might reconsider.

I Just checked my ucas and found out i've been rejected from manchester for law, i wasn't expecting it as i've already got into durham which is more respected and harder to get into. has anyone else had unexpected rejections like this?

Yeah...strange things happen

I got the axe from Queen Mary and SOAS....but got unconditional offers from UCL and LSE to study law. Guess Queen Mary and SOAS didn't think I would be a good fit....

I think I will be ok

Law is just too competitive. I'm glad you've got Durham though because it is a popular choice. Where dya plan to go?

This is because Manchester is hightly underated. Its common for AAA students to be turned down now. Even Manchester met seem to be wanted ABB for a lot of their courses.

thanks, i'm just surpised rather than upset. Durham has always been my first choice and i have an unconditional from there so i'll be fine.

Good job with the unconditional. It is surprising, maybe to satisfy your curiousity you should give Man a call?

i sent an email today asking what they felt was wrong with my application.

Do you think they could have thought sending in my January exam results was arrogant or something?

Were you a very strong candidate by any chance applying to Oxbridge? That seems to be a common problem.

yeah i got rejected from oxford, possibly manchester didn't like that. I might have got away with it from durham because they sent me a letter saying they recieved my application on the 20th Oct even thought i applied before the Oxbridge deadline.

I'm quite a strong candidate with good references and A grades but i thought that although my personal statement was well written it didn't really have much on it - i've never done work experience or anything like that and onlyl decided to read law about a week before i sent off my ucas.

doesn't seem to be very much rhyme or reason behind these, but i was Unconditional for History and Economics at St. Andrews and was flat out rejected for International Relations, though that may attest only to the popularity of that degree program and IR seemed to have lost my application.

I haven't got rejections but I got a conditional from east london and also a conditional from london metropolitan, lol...one that i will not even make... But a unconditional from UAE, still waiting for goldsmiths.

Or because applying for a range of subjects could make you seem uncommited to the course.

This thread is rather arrogant, of course Manchester can reject who they choose, and will have no problem picking and choosing from the 4 A candidates.
