My gay mate

I am a young man, and one of my best mates is a gay. We have a lot in common,and we spend a lot of time together. The only worry I have is, when he gets drunk he gets very flirty with me. Thats just one thing we don't have in common.

What is the best way to approach him about it, barring in mind that he will deny it. I don't want him to think I don't want to be mates!

If he's one of your best mates, surely you have a level of understanding whereby you can simply say "stop ****ing trying to flirt with me, you ****ing bummer. I am straight."

If one of my best mates was gay, that's what I'd say.

eerrrm. Tell him. Even if he denies it, he is still likely to be more careful. Even if you have to tell him it might just be you being paranoid to preserve his feelings, he will still be aware you dont feel the same way and will probably keep a closer check on his actions.

sit down and have a heart to heart with him, i'm sure he won't take it the wrong way, we all do things we regret while we're drunk, so just ask him to be care and you don't really feel comfortable with the flirting. i'm sure he'll try to be a bit more careful

I agree with Tonight with Matthew. Tell him to **** off but do this when he/you are drunk as clearlyu when ur drunk sometimes it s allowable for you to be offensive but when you're sober, he'll remember it and im sure he won't take it in the wrong way. You're just kind of warning him and still maintaining close friendship with him.

Don't flatter yourself mate. Some people are naturally flirtatious, whether they're "a gay" or not. He wouldn't be interested in you, you're a hetero.

I wouldnt suggest sitting and having a heart to heart with him. how akward would that be.
just wait till he does it next time and say it in a joking way. most jokes are said in jest and he'll take the hint one way or another.

Being straight doesn't stop people being good-looking and having a great personality - and the personality is necessary for friendship anyway. I agree with the rest of what you said but... that doesn't mean "drop your guard, he definitely doesn't want to try it on". He probably doesn't, and some people are just naturally flirtatious. But it could happen...

I agree with everyone else. Just make a joke about it. You know how to do that with him better than any of us.

However, thank you for pointing out "a gay" - it saves me having to do it. That was annoying me. :p:
