Hey girls. Which do you prefer? Why are some guys cute and some others hot, i.e. what is the difference? what makes a cute guy cute and a hot guy hot? Do cute teenagers generally turn out to be hot adults?

Err... "hot" is a physical characteristic. Nothing to do with attitude. But according to the stereotype, "hot" guys would be vain and arrogant and love themselves, generally. And have no emotion. And other rubbish like that. Not going to happen.

I would say a hot guy is good looking with a great body and is quite cool personality wise - doesn't put any effort into getting girls, just is a natural magnet.
A cute guy is good looking but doesn't need a great body, it's all about the face. Generally a lot less rugged and sexy than a hot guy, more pretty boy/young looking. Cute guys have the personalities to go with the face - really sweet and will put a bit of effort in with a girl.
A hot guy is a one night stand. A cute guy is a boyfriend.

I'd pick cute over hot any day. In fact I don't even see what all the hype is about hot. They're just boring. Cute is interesting.

Generally I think that cute guys are attractive but not in a conventional way. Then again, I don't think you would ever label someone cute if you've never met them, so it does have an aspect of personality. Hot is a characteristic - male models are hot, that guy walking down the street is hot, your best friend who you've been in love with forever is cute.
And I'm a sucker for cute, shy guys. Give me the underdog any day.
