Hey ive started running and enjoying it-except in this heat! anyway i waas wondering how good a form of excercise it really is compared with others?

Best in my books, followed closely by swimming.

although i would say walking 5.5 miles a day is the best form of excercise, but i wouldn't want to be walking or running on the polluted streets.

swimming is fun but sometimes it's freezing when you get in:p:

cycling is relaxing and you don't put as much load on your bones than running does.
Nah, swimming is better, you have the extra friction of the water and so on. Running is very good 'general' exercise though.

Love it! Especially along London's South Bank and the leafy green avenues near home. The South Bank, once you're east of the Royal Festival Hall complex, is weird for a London site in that it's surreally quiet - you can even hear the water sometimes - and that immensely with slipping into runners' high - what exercise/sports psychologists call flow.

The great thing is you can run virtually anywhere with a solid surface - over Christmas I had my spikes on in Denmark while cruising through the snowed-under town of Holstebro. And if the surface you've got isn't solid - then hey - swimming is more efficient at improving/maintaining overall CV fitness anyway!

its fantastic!
i do it twice a day everyday. it helps me sleep better and stops me getting headaches which i used to get every day until i started running.
swimming is great but running is free and you dont have to stew in other people's water....hmmm nice

you cant knock running as a form of excercise though really! Swimming might be better but running is still excellent... just try not to do too much as you'll get sick of it!
