It depends what weight you are to start off with. If you have several stones of excess fat, an abrupt change like that can allow you to shed it fairly quickly. If it more a case of sliming right down/toning, it can be harder and take longer.
This sounds a fairly harsh regime, to be honest. Do you have something in particular that you're trying to lose weight for (i.e. a time limit?) If you want to keep weight off in the long-term, you need to make your diet/exercise something that you can live with. The risk otherwise is that you'll lose weight for a while, then put it straight back if you stop exercising/dieting.

I want to loose it for my anniversary then keep it off after so I will be keeping with the diet, I love fruit and I know I should eat it more instead of snacking on cheese, crisps, biscuits etc. I have excess fat that I want to loose, I am 5' 6" and 11stone 3lbs so will the fat disappear quickly?
If you stick to that diet, and the exercise, you should manage to lose weight quite quickly yes!
It does depend on things like hormones too, but it the weight has come from eating junk food and stuff, you shouldn't have a problem.
Have you set yourself a target weight? I've always been a bit too lazy to diet properly, but from friends that I've seen do it, it has seemed to help for them to have a target, something to work towards.
Running and skipping are good cardiovascular exercise, and so will help to burn off fat. Look up some toning exercises if you find you have a problem area, that doesn't shift weight as easily.
Oh, and take up step aerobics! It's the only form of exercise I do, but it helps me stay fit, and is more fun than running :P
Best of luck with it anyway!

Well a personal trainer told me that a healthy weight for me would be 9stone 5lbs so I am aiming for that but I want to be a size 10 again more than anything else. In the past 7 or so months I have went up to a size 14

Just following on from the exercise thing: would skipping have much effect on you if you did it for 30mins-1hour? I'm looking for some exercises to do at home on the days I don't goto the Gym and it's hard to think of some.

yeah skipping is meant to be really good because it uses your arms and legs and if you do the kind where you don't bend your knees and just jump on your toes really fast then it works your abdomen to an extent too. ive never tried skipping for that purpose but a friend who did said it worked well.

id say your creating about a 1000 calorie deficit maybe more(1100/200) a day, which is quite alot. theres 3500 cals in a pound of fat so in a week you'll burn 7000 cals and hence lose 2 pounds. so in 5 weeks thats 10 pounds. i dont know how that translates into dress sizes(im a guy and sizes of 10, 12,14 etc mean absolutley nothing to me!) ps, this just an estimate so dont call the lawyer if it doesnt go to plan.

I think it's possible. Anyone who significantly reduces their calorie intake [and by this I mean cutting it by at least 50%, if not more] is going to lose weight, regardless of whether they become more active. Exercising on top of this reduced calorie intake will only serve to speed up the weight loss and tone you up at the same time.

Running [it need only be 2 miles or so, but build it up, don't push yourself until you're knackered. Pace yourself] and swimming are the best ways for an all-round toned physique.

Also, diet's never work, so you should begin this healthy eating/exercise regime being mentally prepared to keep it up for the long term.

Whenever I want to shed a few lbs I always swear by the following things:

1. Cut out all bread
2. Cut out all cheese
3. Don't snack [eat 3 decent sized, very healthy meals. Remember that if you're having a salad, lettuce leaves of all varieties contain next to no calories so you can eat loads of it. Celery is -ve calories and spring onions/cucumber are almost -ve cals].
4. Cut out mayonnaise [it is very high in saturated fat; one dollop can contain a whopping 300 calories and a LOT of fat, plus it has no real nutritional value].
5. Replace calorific salad dressings with healthy balsamic vinegar-based dressings or lower fat varieties].
6. Keep carbs to a minimum.
7. No red meat
8. Increase the amount of fresh fish you eat; fish such as mackerel is excellent because it's rich in omega and contains essential fatty acids.

Just reading up on skipping (only ever done it for fun in Primary School) and found some stuff. Apprantely if I did 30mins of rigorous, I could lose up to 650 cals. Pretty good considering I usually only burn 1/3-2/3's of that per 30mins at the gym :p:

May just take up this idea.
If you are exercising just remeber that you will be gaining muscle as you lose fat. This is good because it increases your metablic rate, helping you to lose fat faster. Therefore although you may not lose lots of weight on the scale you will be getting smaller (because a pound of muscle takes up much less space than a pound of fat) and losing fat.

Also if you are exercising, never eat less than 1200 or your body will go into starvation mode and conserve fat and you will only lose muscle. This is an evolutionary survival mechanism designed for when there is a famine- it is not very useful to us today as it means that eating a low calorie diet actually stops you losing fat). Avoid losing muscle as this will slow your metabolic rate down which will mean the weight is harder to keep off and any weight gained is likely to be from fat.

Good luck with it- I know you can do it!
yeah depends on what weight u start with

Skipping is really hard to keep up for any significant length of time though. I can usually manage about 30 seconds!!

^True!

Good luck skipping non stop for 30 minutes!

I hate to say it but you shouldn't really let your calorie intake drop that much per day especially if you're increasing the level of exercise you are doing. As a basic rule of thumb you should be eating 2000 calories a day to keep yourself healthy. Eating any less will mean you'll be lacking in energy and likely to feel hungry a lot of the time.

I'd say drop the calorie intake to 1800 at the least and do your exercise everyday slowly building up the intensity of the exercise you do. This way means that you'll be healthy, because you do need a certain number of calories to stay alive!
Skipping's excellent, if you're prepared for your legs to grow to massive proportions. Although it's true that it's impossible to continue skipping for more than probably 15 minutes (I timed myself once, I didn't count the skips, I just skipped until I could physicially skip no more - managed 2mins 43secs).

What I personally do, and I find it helps a lot, is to skip regularly throughout the day ie. when you get up, an hour after lunch, just before supper, just before bed... do enough skips each time to make yourself out of breath (differs depending on fitness, although as your legs get fitter the more you'll have to skip). You shouldn't sweat though, and it's good as it not only burns calories whilst you skip, it allows for a peak in metabolic burning for some time after you're done. You can also do it fully clothed (ie. you don't need to be in special gym clothes or whatever).

I have been on the diet for 2 days now at 11stone 3lbs and I have just weighed myself and I am 10stone 14lbs.

Well I havent got a skipping rope, I am going to buy one tomorrow, but I will probably start doing it 5 minutes before I have my dinner then as much as possible afterwards.

The running starts tomorrow, I wanted to get used to eating less calories before I started running.
Thats an awful lot to lose - aim for 2-4lb a week.

Don't eat less than 1200, whatever you do. 1500 is better, as you seem to be doing a lot of exercise.
