Yep, went to Southampton the other day and loved it! Looking at the cardiac physiology route. Also going to look at Portsmouth to see if life sciences (blood, cellular, infection science) would be a better route as I am not sure yet!

What about you?

I am also interested in life sciences (blood, cellular, genetics, infection science) at Portsmouth. Please let me know how it goes there.

I was thinking of doing the exact same thing for my first choice too! I haven't been to see it yet as I live on the Isle of Man, but just wondering why you loved southampton so much?

Well the course seems really good because you can specialise after the first year incase you weren't sure which pathway to choose + looking at the modules they look really interesting.
And it's kind of near where I live so it's better than travelling like over three hours away! + it's near the beach and a really nice area!
Where else are you looking at?

Leeds, Swansea, UWE and St. Georges.
Yep I saw two areas, one was a 15min bus ride away from campus (included in the accommodation fees) and one was a 15min walk so not too close, but they seemed nice!

Hi guys do you know if the healthcare science degree at UWE is accredited by the NHS? Also, i was interested in the cardiology route but i'm thinking it might get boring after awhile doing the same job everyday.

Accredited by HEE which is to do with the NHS I believe. And I don't think it would be a boring job as different patients bring different situations so it wouldn't be dull at all, exciting if anything!

Oh where is the list of them I haven't seen that?
And I think it can lead to other pathways but I'm not sure, you'll have to ask the universities

What's Swansea like? I might go to the open day next Saturday.

Supposed to be very good in terms of course standard, employability, financial benefits. I would go to the open day as I need to sort out an admissions enquiry, but I'm at a friends party the day before and most likely work in the morning, and an almost 4 hour train journey from mid-cheshire isn't exactly ideal.

For those interested in cardiac physiology did you base your personal statement just on cardiac physiology or did you include respiratory and sleep science or (whatever the uni offers along with cardiac physiology)? Or did you base it on physiological sciences overall? Thank you

I used my personal statement from last year and tweaked it to make it relevant to cardiac physiology (last year's was sport science). I don't think it matters too much which way you do it.

I personally just based it on cardiac physiology, wasn't sure how to write a personal statement for healthcare science as it's a new-ish course so not much help anywhere!!
