Going on holiday for a few days during term time - bad idea?

is taking 2 days off uni for a 4day long-weekend trip with some non-uni friends a bad idea at the end of September, a few weeks into the term? will I miss out a lot, both educational wise and friend forming wise? I will be a fresher this year, first year.

It depends on what you're missing. If you're missing an entire day of labs, then there's the potential to piss a few people off. Do be aware that seminars are compulsory and attendance is taken, so missing too many can mean that someone gets in contact to ask where you are.

If, however, it's just a couple of lectures then it won't make a difference either way. Just make sure you copy someone elses notes.

Can't see it affecting friendships either, seeing as you're past freshers week.
