lol, or you could mix the two and end up with some strange fetish...?

seriously, you prefer washing up...?

Well, I'm a guy and quite a massive football fan. I find though that I can fit my life with the world cup very well around that of my boyfriend.

Maybe I have the advantage in the way that he doesn't demand attention all the time, and that while he's not interested in football remotely he respects that I am, and that the World Cup only happens once every four years.

Try watching the England matches with him. You might find yourself enjoying it. It doesnt hurt to give new things a chance once in a while.

I think that was her way of saying people were being stereotypical :p:

he sounds like a **** bf. tell him to find a balance between his hobbies and the rest of his life.

My boyfriend's a bit into the world cup at the moment, but ive found that if we go to the pub to watch itm, he can be with his mates and i can bring mine... makes it less of a problem because i then dont care if he ignores me

Reply 46

It's times like this I'm very thankful my boyfriend doesn't like watching sport.
Have you tried simply pointing out that you feel neglected? He may not realise that he is doing it.
Failing that, you could try giving him a taste of his own medicine... finding something you really enjoy and ignore him for it until he gets the message.

he also loves wrestling...probably just as much as footie...

I stopped watching wrestling when I was 12

Just explain to the dude that it's NOT REALLLLLLLLLLLL

i cant really sympathise with you about this topic, as i like football and often talk/play/watch footy with my boyfriend. but i totally know where youre comin from, he likes a lot of other stuff that i dont! it would be hell for 5 weeks im sure, but at the end of the day it is only 5 weeks. hang in there! try to do girly stuff when hes watchin the footy, have a long bath or go shoppin, any of your girl friends world cup widows? try spendin time with them in the meanwhile, or any male friends that dont like football for that matter! oooo.... you could make him jealous!

Look at it from his point of view... he has probably started a topic in football chat "yeah she is fit, but football still exists"... Its clearly a selfish view the original poster has taken, maybe she should consider what is making her boyfriend happy, if it makes him happy, she should accept it...

There will be plenty of times in life when they will be apart for longer - uni, holidays, work, placements, travelling.....

*giggles*
wo, wo people...i'm not tryin to take away his happiness, i don't even care if people think wrestling is childish- it makes him happy. i'm just not keen on being ignored thats all

and the wc is wow, no doubt. i never said i didn't like it.

thanks for all your suggestions!

but if its making her unhappy, then should he accept that and deal with it?

Everyones point is that basically guys are football obsessed. It just shows what football has done to the english culture, whereas befor, it used to be a tourist attraction, but now, many people i have met abroad have said... "i wouldnt go to england, its just full of drunks chanting football anthems"

It sucks, i sympathise for the original poster.

Since its creation, football has always been a big part of many peoples lives, hence pretty much all football matches at the highest level having always have sold out.

If she is unhappy, and she is making him unhappy, then should they really be together... forgive me for thinking relationships should tolerate one another liking other things other than each other...

Anybody who loves football knows it is a way of life, not an obsession, for me - football comes before everything... and i mean literally everything.

i think your a very sad person if a game can come in between anything and anyone in your life.

I think your a very sad person if you think you can judge other peoples lives...

Following football is no different to following a religion, except there is actually evidence of football existing. Some people would give anything for religion (including lives), i am the same for football (except for my life )

excuse me, there is more proof of jesus's existance than there is of Napoleon's existance.

Plus, i dont even believe in God, so where did you bring religion up from. That was a crappy argument wasnt it.

Reply 57

I was using it as an example... as if to say - do you think people who follow a religion are as stupid as you think i am?

As i keep saying, to me football is a way of life, not a game, only a real football who stands on the terraces week in week out, feeling the highs and lows will understand that...

Reply 58

its not reli a good example as i aint comparing football to rligion, and if ur saying that football is anything like religion then i think ur even sadder.

Well seeing as i am aetheist, then yh i do think ppl who follow religion are a bit silly as i dont believe in it, but i dont want to bring that up coz that has nothing to do with this thread and i have no idea why u brought religion into this topic as it has no exemplar properties.

Still, ur comment remains crap.

*Thinks about saying, "so's your mum"... thinks better of it and decides he is bigger than that.*

Each to their own though... i respect other peoples lifestyles and hobbies, i think other people in here need to do the same.
