buying duvet in uni town - everyone has same idea?

Poll

are you buying a duvet when you get to your uni town?

Is anyone else buying bulky stuff like duvet and pillows when they get to there uni town?

We're going to struggle to fit things in the car, plus we need to buy a new duvet anyway so are going to buy one in my uni town. Is this a common thing to do? But i'm guessing it's mainly 1st years that do, unless you had a single bed one year and double the next ?

Am I best reserving one online at argos etc to make sure I get one that I want? I don't want all the ones with the tog I want gone and end up with a useless summer duvet or a duvet too thick for atumn and spring.

So about 8-10 tog might be the most popular and what sells out if everyone has the same idea as me? It's what I want seeing as I won't be at uni in the middle of the summer, plus I could just get another blanket to put on top when it's really cold in the winter. As at home I have about a 6 tog in the summer and 13 tog in the winter.

My parents will be around most of the day to take me shopping etc.

I'll probably be the first to arrive so won't miss out on socialising. There's only 4 of us in the house ... one isn't arriving until the sunday, one is probably arriving late saturday and I'm not sure when the other arriving, ut probably midday/afternoon saturday. And We're hoping to get there late morning on the saturday ...

I think you're overcomplicating the matter. Just get it when it's the most convenient. Does it really matter if other students are getting theirs on the day they move in too? Just remember that you'll want to bring it home at the end of the year, so you'll have to find space in the car at some point.

8-10 tog will probably be. If your room is not well heated then get something else to throw over it too. You can get ones which button together, such as a 6 tog + 10 tog = 16 tog winter duvet, but they might be a bit too bulky and take up more room. Reserve online if you're worried about it, but a lot of people will already have what they need.

All of my flatmates parents hung around for a bit, one even over night (wouldnt recommend that), took them shopping, had a cup of tea and recovered from some pretty long journeys! My dad drove 7 hours to drop me off, he needed a break!

Which is probably when I get there. I'm just seeing if many other people do the same.

When i bring it home at the end of the year I'll have les stuff to bring as I won't have big bulky winter jumpers etc.

I'll be lonely though, like I said it'll probably be a few hours until anyone else arrives, then there parents might take them out to get any bits and pieces they need. But they'll probably go when she does arrive.

They have a hotel booked several miles away for the saturday night, theyre not staying very late. We did do the journey in one day when we went househunting but my dad never wants to do that again. Plus its my birthday on the sunday.

everyone i know, myself included, bought duvets before they came up. If you put them in a vaccum bag they don't take up much space.
