yeah i just finished the VCE travel and tourism course.. dunno how i did obviously as i havent got exam results. its an okay subject i guess.. depends what u want to do with it in the end.

i actually can't remember why i did it but it sounded okay at the time - its a lot of coursework 2/3rds in fact. and when ur done u end up with about at leastttt 100 pages of coursework, putting together the 3 units. althought this might all be useless as i think they have changed the course now and its all different (for the better).

I have just finised VCE Travel & Tourism (no results yet) I found it very interesting, and it also opens up a whole world of employment opportunities. I'm now planning to go on to University to study Travel and Tourism Management. The VCE course is A LOT of coursework, so be prepared to spend dubious amounts of time on the computers trying to catch up.

Hi just wondering what you think about the subject as im planning to do it in september. Thanx

You doing the Edexcel AVCE Travel and Tourism this September? If you're doing that subject, it's no longer going to exist, and everyone who has taken this subject has to do the exam in January 2007.
i did the course and really enjoyed it, i also did geography so it helped with some aspects of that. There is a hell of a lot of coursework but it is interesting and in a strange but sad way quite enjoyable. I think it helped that i had a really good teacher for it, but in my exams i got As and the coursework was predicted at good As so im hoping i will have a A overall so that will make it even more worth while!

Isn't Geography a lot more respectable and basically the same thing? Or maybe if you wanted to be a 'tourist' you could do Geography and foreign languages in order to get a better understanding of the countries you visit, whilst doing more well-regarded A Level courses...

Hi there,

Hicky (one of the replies on this thread) mentioned that Geography and Travel and Tourism (T+T) are "basically the same thing". Absolute nonsense. I also do Geography and the two subjects are very different.

Let me tell you a little bit about T+T:

-The first unit is repetitive but very, very easy as you basically expand what you are given on sheets of paper. Easy marks.
-The second unit requires you to research a lot. A LOT. You certainly learn a lot about lots of different places (all within Europe - the unit is called 'Destination Europe'). It's pretty interesting stuff, but requires a lot of time and can sometimes be slightly repetitive.
-The deadline for ALL of the coursework is late February (so that the work gets marked), meaning that the rest of the school year is spent preparing for the exam, which is apparently very easy.
-It's 66% coursework (33% for each unit) and 33% exam.

Basically, if you were to choose this subject, I thoroughly advice you to only take 2 other subjects with it. Even though T+T is my only coursework subject, I am finding it very hard to find the time to get all the work done. However, if you had one less subject (and so more free periods), I think you would be able to find the time.

In conclusion, it can be really enjoyable as it is relatively easy and interesting, but only if you have the time to do all the work in.

Hope I helped and, if you choose it, enjoy!
