um think about hiccuping

Eat a teaspoon of sugar. If that doesn't work, have another one. That should get rid of them.

How is sugar meant to stop hiccuping?........i was always told keep dinking water or hold your breath.........dont try both of these at the same time.........and you always end up spilling loads of the water cuz you're hiccuping
Get someone to offer to pay you £10 if you hiccup again. That's the only thing that's ever got me to stop hiccupping. Otherwise, just wait, and avoid talking too much, because then you make funny noises and lauch and the whole situation gets so much worse.
I quite like the sugar idea though. Would it work with chocolate? :p:

hmmmm i was wondering about the sugar thing, how does it stop it?
hold your breath 4 a minute or 2 (or longer if u can). Sounds silly but it has 100% success rate

drink upside-down. I always thought it didn't work, but it worked for me when I kept getting the hiccups when drunk a few weeks ago.
Hang over the sink with your head upside-down and give it a go, drinking slowly for as long as you can.

dunno if it does stop it but it sounds tasty!!!.......i might try and get hiccups to try that..........or just try it anyway..............what are hiccups out of interest?.......does anyine actually know?.............or are they just some strange default in the human body?............do animals get hiccups?......i can just imagine my cat hiccupping!Funny........he snores really loud.........louder than a person so i dont see why he couldnt hiccup.......ha my heads thinking of very strange things now...

how can you drink upside down?............none would go in.......or down.....or would that be up?...

hehe, i dunno, but you can! I just did it again to check i wasn't imagining doing it last time. Have a go! Hold your head upside down and the glass upright but put the side you wouldn't normally by your mouth, then tilt it! Hmm... that's a really bad explanation!

They have gone
that was a bad explanation!........ive tried it but i almost choked.........what other wierd things do you get up to when drunk with the hiccups?

How'd you get rid of them in the end?
Reply 13
I held my breath for as long as possible
Well there you are then.........the official hiccup stopper is holding your breath..........not drinking water upside down (which i still believe is impossible anyway!) like some people suggested!..............i think we need photo evidence of this ability to drink water upside down!..................it does seem like quite an amazing talent as i cant do it and i can do absolutely everything!!!
i have a genious idea that has always worked for me
get someone to ask you what comes out of chimnees. then say smoke (obviously) i dont know what it is but it has ALWAYS worked with me i think its physchological

Drinking water upside down is the way forward!!!!!!!! seriously!!! It worked for me 2 days in a row, but the third day was terrible and i just had to wait for them to go.
I am very tempted to take a picture, but not sure if I am talented enough to drink upside down while taking a photo, sorry.
Chmnees and smoke to get rid of hiccups........this is getting kinda wierd now!!!............get somone else to take a photo!!!i need proof!!........have you got any other special talents?..........we're getting a bit sidetracked here aren't we?..........no1's anserd what and why hiccups are...........i need to know.........i crave knowledge!!!.......is there any1 intermolectual enough to know?
btw.............for all you people who dont know intermolctual means uber intelligent!!!......and of course i am the most intermolectual of them all!!!

Sorry, no one else about! I tried taking a photo, but you could only see the top of my head, so I don't think it conclusively proves the drinking-upside-downness. However, while trying to take the photo I discovered that drinking upside down is in itself quite fun, even when not for an important purpose like getting rid of hiccups.
I actually only discovered the drinking upside-down when trying to prove to someone else that it wouldn't work. But it did. So I lost. :frown:

PS look up hiccups on wikipedia. I'm sure there's a good explanation there!

Edit: Wikipedia, on cures: "Drinking a glass of water "from the wrong side of the glass", i.e. bending over a sink so one's head is upside-down when drinking"

See, I am not insane!
