Freud's View On Conscience

Hey, I really don't understand the id, the super ego and the ego.
Does one control the other 2??? Your id is lusts and desires isn't it????

Please help!!! Can't wait until tomorrow is over now!!!

Id = basic drives and instincts - u seen Human Nature? - that film sums it up.
Superego = for want of a better word - guilt put there at a pre-rational stage by parents and schooling etc, and inspires you to do things for approval etc. (eg. answering questions like this, or putting money in a charity box in a shop)
Ego = your projectioned self - the outward result of the struggle between your Id and superego.

Hiya. The id is "i want" , the ego is "i can" and the superego is "i should". The ego is where ego defence comes in and repression takes place. This is our conscious. The id and the superego are our subconscious and there is psychic conflict between them. The id is what u want...ur desires, and the superego is the morals and ethics...hence "is should." Hope that's helped?? xx :smile:
