For anyone who is heading into halls this coming September, this is the kind of internet speed which is awaiting you! Just in case you're interested in how speedy the internet is in uni-owned accommodation.

This test was conducted at 11:19am, so not the quietest time of day, and via the ethernet connection, not wifi. However, the speed is generally very, very fast through both forms of connections, especially when it's considered that thousands upon thousands of people are using it at the same time.

On a side note, be advised that if you're planning on downloading games/movies, then you run the risk of being restricted to normal speeds, rather than high-speeds, as the uni has a non-academic usage policy. However, things like Steam can be used (moderately) if you open ports on the firewalls, which is easy to do once you're up and running on the network. Plus, there is a fair usage limit of 12GB per day, which is usually enough for any user.

Hey I got my merit award, and I've already firmed aber, I've applied for international politics and intelligence studies and was wandering who else have firmed or got in already ?

That's great to hear! You should hear from the Accommodation Office about applying to your accommodation in the next week. They send letters and emails out in batches...

I've been offered an unconditional place on Interpol & Int too. I'm not sure if I'll accept though, waiting to hear from Hull... Who were too slow so I've accepted the place at Aber.
