60 hits in 4 hours??

I wasn't sure where to post this, but I guess drugs are health-related so I wen t for here.

Anyway, according to the Mirror, Craig Charles (of Red Dwarf and apparantly Corrie) took 60 hits of crack in 4 hours. I was wondering, is that actually possible? I would have thought that much cocaine would have caused heart problems or something.

I'm no expert on drugs so wondered if anyone had any relatively scientific info on whether you could take that much cocaine in such a short space of time without killing yourself. Or something simillar.

I know, I know. Unfortunately, my American friends aren't as clued up on The Mirror's fine, journalistic reputation! Just thought I might be able to point out some flaws in their 'article' if 60 hits in 4 hours was impossible!

Well if he was smoking it like I read on the BBC news site, then that would mean he had to roll (or whatever you do with crack) and smoke 15 times an hour??

The Mirror say he was smoking it out of a used lager can. A Stella can in fact. And also a Red Bull can. I don't mind the drugs, but I wouldn't touch a Red Bull can with a ten foot barge pole!

He is a neighbour of mine and a friend of mine saw him this morning outside his house (there were paparatzi all over the place) and he looked fine. He may have taken some iffy drugs but no where near the amount the Mirror are making out.

The tabloids are scum.

put it this way the effects of cocaine generally last for 20-30 mins....

And no matter how much cocaine you take, it leads to artery furing, and eventually heart failure......

effects of crack last around 10minutes, so 60 hits in 4 hours is ridiculous from a practical point of view for one thing.

It is just about possible to overdose, but relatively rare.

Please, please don't state things which could be so dangerous if you think there is a chance you are wrong! Yes, you can DIE from a cocaine overdose and people have died.

Speaking from the perspective of someone who has seen someone close to them descend into serious crack abuse it is theoretically possible but highly unlikely for someone to smoke 60 rocks in 4 hours. Even at the height of his addiction my ex would not have contemplated smoking that much in such a short period of time.

Oh and a little warning for those who were misled by one of the above posts. You can overdose on cocaine and crack. This can lead to death or permanent brain damage. Please never again state something so potentially damaging about something which you clearly have no knowledge of.

Lets face it folks...this fantabulous piece of writing comes from The Mirror. What more evidence do you need that it is rubbish?
