Frenuloplasty

I am 16, but think the problem with my tight foreskin lies with the frenulm being too tight/small whatever. I never knew this until before when I was doing some research. Thing is, I am worried about telling my parents or even going the doctor. But as the operation is serious and leaves you in pain etc, they are going to know at some point anyway.

But do I tell my parents and then make an appointment at the hopsital or my local doctor?

If I were you, before leaping to any conclusions about what causes your tight foreskin I'd just go and see a doctor and he'll either refer you to a urologist or ask you to get yer pants off there and then.

They're qualified to tell you what the cause actually is.

Just be aware that there a big divide between urologists over the solution to these problems - half of them say that foreskins can be stretched to solve phimosis for example, and the other half always resort to circumcision.

If in doubt, get a second opinion from someone else before leaping into any sort of surgery.

Oh, and see the doctor first if you're uncomfortable with your parents knowing - its best to be open about these things once you know what is going on - but there is no point in jumping the gun

Tell your doctor they see this kind of thing all the time. I knew someone who had s imilar/ or maybe even the same problem. He had an op on it and is much happier now
xx
i was looking at having this done a while back, and eventually the problem solved itself, was looking at having it done privately, but the date kept getting pushed back! - oh well.... PM me if you want any more info or help/advice!

Good luck

My mum asked me what was up, so I told her. I find it easier to talk to my mum about things than I do with my dad - even though a male would probably be better to talk to for some it's not for me.

I am going to make an appointment for the doctors next week, and take it from there. I've looked on the net and the advice is limited as there is hardly any information about this, but the pictures I have seen are almost identical.

A bit graphical, but it still looks like that's what it is.

And because I am 16, and in full-time education if I have to have this operation will it be free?

Typically if it on the NHS, stuff like that will be free - yes.

Mine was, although I ended up not getting anything done because it solved itself. ( or rather I solved it with the help of my woman )

Posting on GFs account as I seem to have made my first post with this account too
you should be able to get it private, but Iby the time I will even have had my NHS appointment, I wil have already had my op by going private.

for thise who have had it done before: is it very painful afterwards?

Why how long do you have to wait for a NHS appointment?

Took a year from realising I had a problem ( On GFs account again ) to having surgery booked and ready.

Took 4 months just to get a urologist to look at it.

So basically, unless your doctor can have a peek and point you in the right direction initially, you'd be best off going private if you're in a hurry.

How much is it to go private though?

I had this operation recently. Its completely painless; hardest part was just telling someone at first. I told my mates n they all made me see the funny side of it lol, and when your in the urologist consultants he just makes you feel very at ease and its great when the problems fixed. pm me for any help

did it solve your problem? and the 'maintenence', painful or not so bad?
Yes it did. I literally just [couldn't] pull the foreskin back, even though it wasnt particularly tight. Mine was so tight he just completley removed it which is apparently different to the standard procedure of just cutting it to make it longer.
Maintenance - the worst bit really. Not nice goin for a piss n blood dripping out, and because I'm not disciplined enough to stay off ******* for 2 weeks, It took a while to heal up properly.

it's the maintenece I'm most worried about. well that and the ban, not sure I'll last it, in fact, I know I won't hack it

Well, put simply, I couldnt go any longer than 4 days after the op. Get it done mate, you'll thank me for it!

I probably won't be able to afford private treatment, but if the NHS take into account the fact Im starting college in the beginning of september will they take that into consideration and speed things along?

I can't really imagine so, and realistically why should they? plenty of people wil be in the same situation as yourself if not worse. It's only a day procedure anyway so you won't really miss much college if that's what you're worried about. and even if you do get the whole thing sped along, having an op before sept? you'll be lucky to even get a consultaion appointment by then I think.
