I'm thinking of writing a birthday card for a friend, but I don't know what to write in the card. I'm aweful with this kind of stuff. Any suggestions?

Also, would you appreciate it more if your friend mail you a birthday card or give it to you in person?

Dear x

Hope you have a happy birthday

happy birthday?

that's just dull. I want to write something meaningful and interesting. But, I have a lack of creativity!

Have a fantastic day!
Enjoy yourself
Make the most of your birthday
Wishing you a brilliant birthday

etc etc.

Not really fussed about whether I get it in the post or personally, probably personally is better?

Any personal jokes that you can put in there? x

To be fair, you want something meaningful, yet you're asking other people to come up with it?

I'm not saying don't ask, but you're the only one who could say something personal and meaningful.

Most people who I know just appreciate it if someone buys them a card and aren't particularly bothered about what's put in it. Do you call your friend a nickname?

If you're really serious about making the card special or whatever, putting in a joke about your friend's personality or looks (as long as it's not hurtful) is an ideal solution, cos people usually are light hearted about that sort of stuff anyway. Really, writing a birthday card should be the least of your problems.
