You usually do a whole unit in those months, you could study at home or just start the September after.

im sure you'll be able to arrange something with your school and teachers to arrange notes and stuff to be sent to you so that you can do the work. the biggest advantage of being at school is teahcers can help as soon as you get stuck, but like i said im sure you'll be able to arrange something.
hope all goes well with your op

It also depends on what A levels you are planning to do, things like Maths and Languages will be difficult unless you have a natural talent for it whereas English, History, Psychology, Sociology etc etc will be a lot easier.
i wouldn't worry about, in my school you take up the subject and have to drop it by December (if you want to that is) then you can pick up another subject. A lot of my friends have done this and have done well, you just have to catch up with the others, and the teacher will help as well, because you can't help not being able to start in september as it were. If you know what you want to study why not get some study guides and start now, so you'll be ahead of your fellow classmates:smile:

What subjects are you doing? As kirsten said, ones like history shouldn't pose a great problem.

Hi guys,
Having a major operation in a few days, i wont be able to attend SixthForm (to do alevels) until January. How vital are the first few months? Is it hard to study at home?
thanks.

the first few moths they will only give you worksheets to do nothing major.. if youre doing coursework then theres still alot of time you can use to catch up.. i had a major opeartion in the middle of my A2 and still finished everything..my grades probably arent gonna be great but they werent even if i didnt have the op

I was in hospital for something from Christmas to May of GCSE year.
The examiners can take it into consideration, if you want your doctor to write a note.

I passed all my exams with Bs or above =)

then i wouldn't worry about it, you'll catch up, and when you're recuperating you can learn then- it's something to do

With ICT you need a teacher to supervise your coursework so you dont cheat, your other subjects are fine:wink:
