Feelign really ill-whats wrong with me?

Im omnly posting here as i have no way of calling NHS direct (nearest payphone is 20 minute walk away and i barely have the energy to stand up) to check my symptoms and im feeling worse and starting to worry. since sunday i have felt:
-feverish
-had a really bad cold
-have a hacking cough (green mucas etc)
-my eyes have felt really sore, and its hard to keep them open
-my pupils are really small
-my brething has gotton more raspy
-a really bad headache that wont go away even when ive had painkillers
-feeling disorentated, i was at work on tuesday and felt really lost and paniky and the lights were hurting my eyes
-a sore throat

its probably ust a bad cold or something but i can't shake the feeling its something else. have already coughed so violently i was sick and now im scared that if i cough whilst asleep i may not wake up. i know i should see a doctor, or i might be over reacting but im really worried

Aw, you poor thing :frown: Illness = poo. I know that often people mistake a cold for flu, etc, etc, but it does sound to me as if you have full-blown flu. The fact that you felt disorientated and sensitive to light suggests it...do you find that when you move your eyes too much it hurts? Sometimes that can be indicative of flu as well.

If it is flu, it's a virus and it will go away soon, the nasty little thing. However, the fact that you coughed so much that you were sick could be more serious - are you drinking enough? That's very important if you're vomiting.

Alternatively, it could be some sort of chest infection, if your chest feels that irritated. Often the infection from that affects your general health - so you feel dizzy and headachy as well as having a bad chest. In which case you really need to visit the doctor as soon as possible - because it can take longer to clear up the longer you leave it.

I do think you should see a doctor as soon as possible if you're feeling that bad - but for now, you could relieve the chest problems and clear a bit of the mucus by going into a bathroom, shutting all the windows (to get a steamy atmosphere) and running hot water into a bowl. Then put your face over the bowl and a towel over your head and the bowl so that you create a small steamy cavern. Then breathe in the steam - it really soothes your chest, because effectively you're breathing water in and out, which helps to clear the mucus.

Hope this helps - and sorry you're feeling so bad :frown: Visit the doctor as soon as you can!
