Imperial College vs Oxford?!

Hey guys,

Last year, I received admissions from both Oxford and Imperial College for "MSc in Water Science, Policy and Management" and "MSc in Environmental Technology: Water Management option" respectively...However, due to some circumstances, I wasn't able to attend either courses this year. I asked them to defer my admissions to the next academic year, and both accepted, thankfully

Before becoming certain about the fact that I won't attend the course this year, hesitation and doubt were killing me!

I didn't know what to choose...to the last freakin minute!

Both courses are amazing, and the schools offering them (Imperial's Centre for Environmental Policy, and Oxford's School of Geography and The Environment) are internationally recognized and well-respected...I know that the courses' titles might sound different, but the main/core subjects discussed in both programmes are almost the same...

Thus I decided to seek help, and started surfing the internet...Fortunately, I ended up stumbling over your forum on the way guys

I hope you can help me with that...

Looking forward to seeing your replies

Since it's a rather specialist field, most of us are unqualified to judge.

I'd say Oxford, because the name holds a lot of weight, but as you say, imperial comes pretty close. However, Imperial doesn't have a humanities depertment, and London is expensive, so it you want a broad range of people and money left to spend, go to oxford. If you want good night life, go to London.

I know nothing about this field but would go for Oxford. And enjoy the experience!

for dinner party one-upmanship or in the surely specialist field of water management?

And I have precisely no idea.

Definitely the former, but it probably can't hurt in the latter either. Mind you, Imperial has a formidable reputation for sciences, so in water management it may well have more weight than Oxford.

So I have no idea either, really (apart from my comments on cost / city 'vibrancy', which may or may not be a concern). Sorry, OP!
