New College had nice accomodation when I stayed for my interview and I believe a large proportion of the rooms have ensuite shower facilities. My room was also really large and I know others had similar sized ones - only a few had smaller ones and then they shared bathrooms between 3/4rooms.

Christ Church really varies (as do most colleges, but I think ChCh in particular). Some people end up with suites of rooms whilst other get really cramped accomodation (usually first years).

Remember that only a few colleges offer three years in college accomodation. This is arguably more important than the quality. From your list I think only ChCh and Magdalen offer accomodation in college for every year along with St Johns, Merton, Univ, St Hughs and one or two others. In most of the rest you'll spend your second year living out.

Worcester which isn't mentionned on this one is quite nice, mainly because of its big grounds but nothin stunning. Above average accomodation from what I've heard although I've never seen it.

St Anne's offers all years accom, and when the new building is finished all accom will be on site rather than way up North!

Worcester's accomodation is fairly good. They've recently done quite a bit of building and buying houses on the roads surrounding Worcester and as a result guarentee accomodation for all 1st and 2nd years (they're slightly unusual in that they don't kick out 2nd years but kick out 3rd years). Also they accomodate about half of 3rd and 4th years. After a couple of years living in college accomodation lots of people actually want to get a house of their own with mates so basically anyone who wants to live in for the whole of their time is likely to be ok. All Worcester's accomodation is either within the college grounds or on one of the surrounding roads just outside the college grounds which is unlike most other colleges.

1st year rooms are the worst (like every college), most 2nd year (and 3rd/4th year) rooms are very nice. As a 1st year you'll be in 1 of 4 places - 1: front/pump quad - very old rooms usually pretty big but can be a little cold. Usually 1 bathroom per staircase (between 3-6 people), no kitchen. 2: 'Goldfish bowl' - purpose built 1960s accomodation near the Nuffield lawn, this is where the majority of 1st years are - rooms vary from mid-sized to large, couple of bathrooms per staircase (c. 12 on staircase), no kitchen. 3: Worcester House - converted house on Walton St. just outside the front entrance to college, rooms mid sized, 3 bathrooms (14 people) 1 kitchen. 4: 'Staircase 24' - 3 terraced houses that backed onto college converted and knocked into 1 with an entance directly into college. Rooms generally medium sized although there are a couple of smaller ones, not sure exactly how many bathrooms there are, probably about 1 for every 6 people. Think there are 24 rooms on this staircase, no kitchen.

Subsequent years rooms are:
Sainsbury Building - lush rooms overlooking the lake, not the biggest rooms but set into groups of 6 set around a kitchen. 1 bathroom per kitchen.
Linbury Building - big en-suite rooms built only about 10 years ago, no kitchen facilities.
Canal Building - large building on Canal St. just outside the back entrance to the sports fields. Large En-suite rooms with 1 big kitchen between 10. Does feel a bit like a motel.
Nuffield Building - Massive suite rooms in 1920s building overlooking Nuffield lawn (which turns into a mass sunbathing ground in summer as people 'revise'). Usually bathroom between about 3 or 4 although a couple of rooms have en-suite. No kitchen.
Main quad - suite rooms like the 1st year rooms on main quad but bigger and better.
Worcester Place - Couple of terraced houses bought recently by college on Worcester Place - a road that leads to yet another back entrance into college. These are genuine houses, not sure how many live in each one or what the room sizes are coz I've never been in, but you can expect mid-sized rooms probably 1 bathroom and a kitchen.

Hope this helps.

Magdalen, like many colleges, has some lovely accomodation and some not so great. The rooms are done by ballot on a flat rate rent, so that might be something you want ot consider: unlike colleges that still have all thier rooms graded by quality and are priced accordingly, you cannot get the best accomodation at Magd just by paying extra for it.

Also - and this applies for all colleges - don't be too quick to believe that any really nice room you get for an interview/open day is typical of all the accomodation available in college...you won't see the grottiest rooms until you turn the key in your door on the first day of freshers' week...
