Nursing or psychology

Hi guys, i am a current sophmore intertwined between nursing or psychology as my major. I’ve been working in the hospital settings working with patients and other nurses and felt like it is not what i wanted to do. The courses also seems considerably heavy and boring, therefore i am now trying to further develop my interest in psychology and make it my future carree. There are few questions i would like to ask fellow psychology majors. Is psychology courses sicence oritated? For example, have to excel biology, anatomy, or chemistey etc. What do you guys like most and least about being a psychology major.

The main science that surrounds psychology is actually Biology (physiological psychology). This is a very big part of psychology, but try to keep in mind there are various different disciplines in psychology (e.g. Social, Cognitive, Behavioural, Developmental, Psychodynamic, etc.) so you should get a good variety of teaching at uni  Try to remember that maths is also important where Statistics and Research Methods is a core module you will study in most courses (there will also be a lot of essays).

As far as careers are concerned, psychology has to take the cake on that one. I assure you that a psychology degree can be applied to most proffesions where in a way it covers all core subjects (englsih, science and maths). It also leaves you with loads of transferable skills which a nursing degree simply doesn't provide.

The thing I like most about psychology (other than it being simply awesome ) is the fact that after you have covered all the core modules, you will be able to specialise in any fields or disciplines which are particularly interesting to you- you can literallly study anything by then! (as long as it's psychology related of course )

Best of luck!
