This is a thread for Scottish applicants for medicine, 2014 entry. Not discriminating against non-scots! It's just difficult to understand the differences in our education system, so this thread is for people who want understand their competition.

If you want to, post what you got for your standard grades/int 2, your highers, your UKCAT score and where you're applying.

e.g. Standard Grades - 6 1s and 2 2s
Highers - AAABB
UKCAT - 630 average, 2450 total
SJT - Band 2

Dundee
Edinburgh
Glasgow
St Andrews

Good luck to everyone!

Highers - AAABB

Edinburgh
Don't waste one of your choices by applying to Edinburgh with those Highers. I don't mean to be harsh, but that is a guaranteed rejection - apply wisely, apply to unis that value areas you are strong in!

Re-applicant

I have changed my choices many times but in the end I have decided to apply to:
Aberdeen;
Dundee;
Glasgow;
(and) St. Andrews

UKCAT: 690 (2760) + band 2
(S5)Highers: AAAAA
(S6)Adv. Highers: BB and A in Higher

I faced extenuating circumstance in S6, therefore, Aberdeen will view my adv. Highers as AB instead of BB. Plus Glasgow informed me that they will also consider my application.

St. Andrew and Dundee will inform me later.

English, chemistry, biology and physics. Did my Highers a couple of years ago and they're *ahem* modest, so I'm busting a gut to make it up this year.

You were allowed to take 4 AH's? My school only lets people take 3 at most, and some others only allow 2. Good luck!

Do any of you guys know when interview notifications/rejections are sent to scottish students? I know it's a bit before RUK/European/International students, desperate to know a benchmark period.

Wow, you've got amazing stats! Have you heard back from anyone yet? I went for Virology. Most people go for Neuroscience of Biomedical Sciences but just go for something you know you'd find fascinating.

Thank you! I've had an interview at St Andrews. I seriously messed up one of the questions though which I'm gutted about, and I have an interview at Dundee too. Still waiting for Aberdeen You?

Aw, okay, cool. I was thinking neuroscience/ psychology but if I don't get in I might just reapply. Decisions decisions.

I had an interview at St Andrews on the 2nd Dec! What question did you muck up? And don't worry, everyone thinks they performed badly when they mull it over. :P I'm gutted cause I really wanted to hear back from Dundee, and haven't heard back from Aberdeen either. :\

Aw mine was the 6th. I just ended up putting really negative spin on something they asked me. Hmm, will have to wait and see, but thanks. Aberdeen are taking so long it's killing me. And I'm sure Dundee will be in touch soon. They've not given out that many interviews by the looks of it!
