Hi, Donutaud15! I saw your profile and it says there you're studying at UAL. May I know which school? I'm planning to apply to UAL as well. Pinay here btw

I applied to a portfolio preparation course at CSM this summer to help me get into their foundation. Would you know how is it there? I'm also quite interested at LCC. How was the application process, if I may ask?

I'm not familiar with CSM as my classes are all in LCC. Can I just ask why do you need to go for portfolio preparation course if your applying for foundation?
I transferred during my second year but I'm assuming it's the same as a first year applicant. Applied through UCAS then short phone interview and I was in.

For a stronger portfolio and better chance at getting into their foundation. It's a 2 month course, just enough to experience life there and see if I want to stay. Hopefully, I'll like it. Did LCC require a portfolio?

Ok. LCC didn't ask for portfolio but my course is media so I guess portfolio won't be much of a help.

Can I ask what are you doing for your a levels?

Well it probably won't matter. Here we take A levels to prepare us for uni.

Out of curiosity, what course are you considering and why UAL?

Really?? My agency hasn't told me anything about it. I think I should ask them :|

BA Womenswear, hopefully. But I need to take foundation first. Ual has produced the best of the best. Their alumni list is spectacular. I think it's the best school to study art & design. How do you like LCC so far?

They probably didn't mention it to you because you don't need to fulfil that requirement. For students here, the grades we get for A levels or equivalent determines whether we go to uni or not.

I think you need to take foundation year as you don't have a levels, people tend to take it to prepare them for the course. I would agree that UAL is a good school for art and design, possibly the best in London though I'm not sure compared to other universities in the UK.

I like LCC. It's in a location convenient for me to get to and the lecturers are decent most of the time. I won't be in LCC for much longer though as once I finish my dissertation, I'm done with uni.

I wouldn't know for certain but I heard they're ok. If you're not sure about halls, my advice is just go for private accommodation

Oh yeah, right. Congrats on your graduation btw!

Yeah probably if I get into foundation. Still waiting for the dreaded result. But I'll be there in June. I'm excited(and scared)! Haha

Thanks!

You should get the decision soon. Around this time they hand them out. Would you be staying in halls if you come in June or private renting?

Well, I've been looking for privately owned student accommodations that allow short stays. And so far I've only seen Unite. So, it's either that or ual halls. I'm leaning towards Unite though.
