Whether its in Russia or Jamaica, Saudi Arabia or Indonesia, LBGT people are oppressed and persecuted in countries across vast swathes of the world, just as they have always been for hundreds and hundreds of years. They are a minority in societies in which the majority often has a senseless hatred for them.

This is very similar to the experience of the Jewish people throughout the world for much of history. Exiled and dispersed across lands where the majority hated them, the Jewish people were eventually, after almost being wiped out, able to escape persecution by forming in 1948 a state of their own, Israel, in which they could be together as one people. The founding of this state enabled a once-downtrodden people to fulfill their true brilliant potential and build a prosperous, free society which has given so much to the world, in which they could defend themselves and stop anyone from ever again persecuting or oppressing them.

Do LBGT people need their own version of Zionism? Would you support the creation of an LBGT state in which they could be together, prosperous, free of oppression, and able to defend themselves? Or do you think the establishment of the Republic of Gaytopia would be a bad idea?

I suppose Jews always saw themselves as one people, and historically had a nation in the past. they shared a culture and so it makes some sense for them to come together. gays from different parts of the world don't necessarily have anything in common besides liking the same sex, and if that was enough for them to form a nation then the world would be at peace already

Doesn't that just Ghetto'ize the idea?

Ship 'em off to an Island somewhere?

What about a nice camp? With a few ovens?

    Sound familiar?

The major issue with here is that the island would either become dead within a couple of generations, or in a couple of generations, it'd be like any other society

It makes no sense because they're not self sustainable other than artificial or they force themselves to have sex with people they're not attracted to. Also their children won't be gay, or very unlikely they will be.

Surely there would be a fairly steady supply of "newly discovered" LGTB people coming along as the next generation grows up?

well they asked for it nonetheless, so I don't think it is fair to compare the concept with the holocaust when people who had just been through the holocaust volunteered for it.

    I see what you did.

    Israel is disliked by Muslims.

    LGBT are disliked by Muslims.

Hence the title, which is indirectly referring to the hate Muslims give to LGBT people.

This is an issue? Thought not...

and how will it take a couple of generations, it would take one generation, unless the gays develop anus wombs.

Yeah, but over time, it'd just be a "normal" society

I don't think I'd support an Israel for gay people, but I think I'd support replacing Israel with gay people. Certainly better than replacing gay people with Israel - it's a rather impractical shape.

edit: and that's the second post I've made about shapes of nations today on completely unrelated topics
