Why do I still want to play with kids?

Ok im 20, female and would much rather do the things that kids do - climbing trees, playing man hunt and getting dirty than sitting in a club but why, does this mean im immature:confused: I took my cousin to the park and saw these filthy 12/13 year olds climbing up the slide frame thing on the outside (hard to explain) and I secretly really wanted to join them it looked fun. I also really miss climbing trees. What I want to know is do people my age want to do those things on the quiet or have they honestly grown out of them?

Me and my friends played stuck-in-the-mud at midnight the other day and we're all 20+. Make sillier friends
edit: and we spent at least 3 nights in a row climbing the tree outside our house

I love all that kinda stuff!

It's not weird, it just means you're in touch with the child inside you. Just go do it once and see if you derieve any real fun from it. Ignore what other people think, as all they really do is try and make your life hell.

Yeah I agree! I'm still a kid really. We've gotta keep some immaturity in us...

I'm so relieved not only to find that there are other people like me but also that they have not lost their sense of "adventurous" fun as they move out of their teens.

Yeah, I get what you mean; I still love doing that sort of things, I think many older people secretly want to still do childhood things but can't as it seems immature. Well do what you want and it doesn't matter what other people think. Be yourself.

Become a nursery teacher? My girlfriend does some work at a nursery, and when I ask her what she did today she says "first, I played in the sand, then baked some cakes, then played outside, then made play-doh models". Doesn't sound like she does any teaching, just acts like a kid all day.

I'm sure you'll grow out of it in the end, but you're just in touch with childhood things still and want all the fun of doing those things again, i'm sure its a phase, you'll still young anyway be a bit different if you were 40.

Thats a good idea, or you could do some voluntary work working with younger children. :p: I do voluntary work in my spare time and it's great fun messing about and having fun with kids!

I'm just like you, and its ace isn't it? Nothing to worry about.

I did some volunteering with kids too, it doesn't totally get it out of the system though. Still loving climbing walls and trees.

Were you even an Army Cadet? Those things stay in your blood. Lol. You could join the TA/OTC or become an ACF instructor. Then you have a good reason to do these things, but you get to do it with a rifle in your hand .

Hmm I'm like that. I seem to forget i'm almost 20, like if I go out for the day and theres an adventure playground I get quite excited and want to go on it even though I can't because i'm too old. Sucks to almost be a grown up!

Being grown up doesn't mean you have to be boring. If the sight of a playground excites you, then go for it. Just expect a few bizarre looks thrown your way by the local chavs. Hmpf.

hm well I didn't expect this, so how come I NEVER see people my age up a tree, im the only one at my age who climbs them!!

For some reason, it's perceived to be OK to do all that when you're drunk, so my advice is to use that excuse.

Spent a good few hours playing hide and seek round my mates almost empty house the other day. Lots of removal boxes to hide in. Was well fun!
