    Hello,

I'm looking to apply to study Chemistry at University, but in the first year of college I didn't do so well, and I know I should have done better (hopefully going into clearing next year). My AS results were B in Chemistry C in Maths and C in Physics, I'm retaking Maths Core 2 and Mechanics this year to hopefully get an A overall in maths.

my 4 Universities i'm looking at are

    Bristol (First)
    Leeds,
    Warwick
    and Southampton

But I don't have another choice and i'm not even sure about the choices I have at the moment. The only one I really like is Bristol but I probably wont even get the grades to get into there.

    Any help would be appreciated!

Your choices are extremely ambitious considering you got BCC in my opinion.

What are those universities entry like? And your predictions ?

    BCC hmmm.
    What are your predicted grade?
I think I have to be ABB at least to stand a good chance anywhere.

Bristol is very ambitious choice for you as they required AAA (chemistry and maths included).
Are you sure you can get that? Because even if you manage to get an offer, you may not be able to get the grades hence won't get in.

My advice would be if you really want to apply to Bristol, go for it. But other choices must be less ambitious e.g. 2 AAB uni and 2 ABB or 1 AAB 2 ABB and one BBB if you could find one - you will be able to do chemistry at uni rather than having a year to spend at home, not studying.

So it goes Bristol, Southampton (AAB - ABB) etc.
have a look at this website, it tells you entry requirements to unis http://www.whatuni.com/degrees/cours...43/2/page.html

    Good luck

My predicted grades are AAB, and to be perfectly honest I should be getting them. Bristol would be my first choice but I highly doubt 3 A's are in my range. I was looking at southampton as they go down to ABB. I know that by retaking my EMPA in Physics will near enough bump me up to a B. Warwick would probably be my second choice as they go down to ABB too. Do you think those are sensible choices and then go for a safer option as well?

Go for one BBB is safer - I have a friend who was predicted AAA (and applied to Bristol) but ended up getting BBB and had to get in though clearing to other uni.

So I think you can keep your 4 but the 5th one should be a BBB uni.
It's all up to you though

    Good luck

Main thing is actually getting an offer. Your grades to predictions are fairly inconsistent, and being the very prestige universities your applying to, I'm guessing they are no short of applicants
