    I don't mean just binge-drinking, I mean:

-Not socially drinking (even if you still socialise but without drinking alcohol)
    -Being poor at handling hangovers

Is it some sign of weakness? Are you assumed to be a killjoy? Do men regard as you effeminate for it, and why's that a conclusively bad thing?

The problem is twice as prevalent on campus it'd seem

Personally, I'd really admire someone who didn't drink.:flutter: It shows they're not a sheep.

There isn't. Only idiots care about whether you drink alcohol or not

They're only a sheep if they do it to fit in with peer pressure

    'Moron' would be more precise.

I think it's overrated personally. There's more to life then wiping out memories of an entire evening with alcohol

I drink but because it's fun. I suppose somebody who is worried about how they will act when drunk is seem as a bit of a ponce but I'm not sure why :dontknow:

I went 6 months without drinking alcohol just because I fancied it, nobody thought less of me but I think a lot of people thought that I must have had a 'bad experience' which made me have some sort of backlash against alcohol..

No, it is not a sign of weakness. Drinking or not drinking does not make anyone weak. It is totally up to someone if they do or do not drink and they should not be judged by it- that would be superficial.

Don't really think it's stigma. Simply that people who do drink tend to associate themselves more with other people who drink. You can have fun without drinking and you can be completely normal and nobody will think anything of it. If you go around being a killjoy though, nobody is going to like it. Of course there are some people with a 'lad' culture and frankly they're not worth the time.

It just appears to be some kind of social expectant but I highly doubt anyone would care either way as it's quite a frivolous topic to judge someone on.

It's a regional thing. There are whole areas where people don't really drink at all, it's just not something that happens.

It's not that everyone that drinks is a sheep, but almost all sheeps will drink alcohol as it is the social norm.

When someone does not drink much I think nothing of it. When someone does not drink at all I am curious at to their personal motivation. Is it about health, religion, fear of losing control, alcohol related problems, family history, or a dislike for the taste/feeling? It is not any of my business, and I certainly don't judge or stigmatize though. However, moderate drinking significantly enhances my personal enjoyment of many situations, and I can't help but thinking that non-drinkers may be missing out if they don't have a profound reason.

I don't think there is. And no more so for men than there is for women. I think some people may find it 'weird' just because the media and that likes to assume everyone drinks.

I wasn't aware if someone cared if someone didn't drink. Perhaps going to a pub and not drinking (excluding food) but certainly not in general.

I know a few people who don't drink. Some have never drunk for a variety of reasons and others have stopped. I sometimes abstain from time to time, normally on health grounds. Sure I get a bit of flak from some people, but then they don't seem to see that drinking 4+ pints of cider nearly every night is not healthy for their body or wallet! I normally only abstain for a few days after a particularly heavy session to give my body a chance to recover. I aim not to get any nasty liver diseases any time soon, so I can actually enjoy drinking for a long time.

I simply have no desire; I don't see the attraction, if you need alcohol to have a good time you're not doing it right.
