Go see your doctor, if you want to lose weight.
Its on the upper side of normal.

But body fat really isn't everything. x
you say 31% is accpetable? That must mean that accpetable means isnt going to severly harm your health, because the charts say 25% is the maximum accpetable for men and i saw on tv some guy of about 18 trying to loose weight, he had a a bodyfat of 28% and he was rather on the fat side, going in to obbese side.

25% means fat but not obbese (but dont worry because 31% is not the upper limit of whats acceptbale for women)
25-31% is acceptable for a woman. About 14% is neccessary for periods and suchlike.

Yeah - but 31% is the top of "normal" for females.

A total body fat percentage of 20 to 27 percent is well within a normal, healthy range for women. With training, body fat percentage may be as low as 12 to 16 percent. 31 percent is pretty close. You have an achievable target that when you reach has the potential to make you feel great about yourself.

You can calculate your body fat at http://www.he.net/~zone/prothd2.html

Yeah, great idea.
surely that body fat online thing is a load of rubbish. how can it calculate how much fat is on you by you putting in your waist neck and hip measurements? arent these measurements completely dependent on bone structure, muscle etc?

Load of balls I say.

Yeah, great idea.

Its better than going on a diet that basically cuts out one main food group or makes you live off soup.

Your doctor can put you on a healthy meal plan, quite easily.

Not if you go on a clever, well thought out diet. A couple of hours on the Internet in the right places and you'll be sorted.

So sure about yourself? then why go anonymous? Taking measurements like this will never be as acurate as using calipers, which in turn is not as acurate as other methods. Most websites for measuring bodyfat are are not great, this one is actualy the only half decent one i can remember seeing.

The result could be 3% off so the OP could be anywhere around 28-34% point is it gives a good estimation. Even body fat calipers can only give you an estimation.
