I've noticed this in pictures, my left part of my shoulder is more risen than my right shoulder. How has it got like this, and can i do anything to remedy it? It's not a monumental thing, but it's visible....

it's a slight SLANT, slant is the word i'm looking for!

Do you wear or have you worn your schoolbag on one shoulder? That was what happened to me.

yep, always on my right (happens to be my 'sunken' shoulder) one. Maybe it is this...

It's true, the schoolbag can do damage. My right shoulder aches for no particular reason most days - I attribute it to carrying a one sided bag for 7 years.
shoulder pads.

shoulder pads.

hardly a cure though really, it's a remedy to image portrayel, but it doesn't change the lurking reality does it?? My slant isn't that bad, shoulder slant, but over the last 18 months, i've come to notice it more....

work out your right shoulder, do deltoid presses with dumbells, theres loads of excercises you can do. When you take ur Tshirt off it might look a lil funny though.. but at least itll even things up.
Or just wear the bag over the left shoulder. You're either going to damage both shoulders, or damage one twice as much. Chances are it's nothing serious, but if you want to even it up this is always an option. Then get a bag you can hold in your hand - you don't look incredibly cool but you will end up with nice broad shoulders. :p:
Probably might want to check it out, most likely you'll just get some advice to make sure it doesn't become a problem. Not to scare anyone but my mum had curvature of the spine as a teenager and in those days had to wear a neck brace thing - not nice! But goes to show even 30 years ago the worst cases were treatable in a rudimentary fashion, these days its nothing to lose sleep over.

A while ago at a shopping centre, there was a cool double scale thing used to show how much of a difference you lean to your left and right side. Apparently everyone is slightly slanting one way or another, but the way you've described your shoulders...it's more than just slight.

You should never carry a bag on one shoulder esp if it's heavy (school bags usually are)
I don't know if it'll help but maybe you could swap sides, so whenever you do use a bag, wear it on your left. In time, you might balance out.

Somebody has already mentioned the idea that your spine could be curved (scoliosis). One of the symptoms of it is lopsided shoulders or hips. It's probably not as serious as this, but here's a way you can check:

1) Take your top off and bend over as far as you can without bending your knees.
2) Make sure your hands are pointing directly above your feet.
3) Get someone else to find your backbone and trace it up your back.
4) If it curves one way or the other, you may have scoliosis.

Like someone said, we all have curvature to some extent, but scoliosis is like a particularly severe form of it - and it's very common in young people.

However, more than likely it is just because you're wearing a heavy bag on that shoulder - so don't worry too much about it.

yeah it cud be scoliosis.. its a curveture of the spine. one of the effects is that ur hips and shoulders are uneven and that one side of your body will curve in more than the other.

as the post above says u can check it by doing that simple test of bending over although ur probs best to get someone professional to check it out for u - and the simple test only takes 2 minutes. its not a major problem or anything. ive actually got a bad case of it but theres nothing to do once your over 18 as your bodys stopped growing and spine stopped moving.

dont freak urself out tho! haha this is a simple online post.. if ur really worried go get a doctor to check it out or something..

i wasn't trying to change the lurking reality. why don't you ask a doctor or a physical trainer what to do
