Hi everyone,
I have to do a 15 minute presentation on the poem Tall (Pg 22) in Carol Ann Duffy's anthology Feminine Gospels on Wednesday, but I can't find anything to help me on the internet... Any ideas or analysis would be really helpful. Thank you!

Hey, no problem The poem tall can be interpreted in multiple ways.*The last stanza is a reference to 9/11
So we can interpret the poem as being about human suffering.
Also, can be interpreted as being about society's ignorance, regret, greed and the poet's life.
* The protagonist is presented as a god like figure.
*Enjambment and monosyllabic sentences are key structural devices
* Links nicely to Loud, The Diet, The Long Queen and Beautiful.
* The female is anonymous and there is a line that links to Anon because it refers to a shelf ("behind the top shelf. Herself.")
* could be a metaphor for Duffy's career ie wanting fame and helping people then wanting privacy and realising "she cured no one"
Religious references (days)
There is a maxim as well like the diet but I can't remember it off the top of my head.
It is also interesting how the men were on stilts- link to feminism?
I think Duffy is making a statement about social issues... Like how they are so blatant yet ignored.
There's lots of sibilance and alliteration too.

Hope this helps! x
