god on one of those weighing machines they have them a gym's and tesco's and boots i think and you hold the metal bars and it calculates your BMI. I think you can buy BMI calculators from Argos aswel, that will tell you body fat percentage.

dont know but the easiest way to access your weight situation is to check your BMI (Body Mass Index):

Mine is 16.9 - which is underweight :frown:

BMI has nothing to do with body fat. Someone with very low body fat and very high muscle density would probably come out as obese according to BMI, because it's a simple height to weight figure, whereas somebody bigger and fatter may well be lighter, and at the same height come out with a lower BMI, because fat weighs less than muscle. The only way to measure body fat is to get a set of scales that measure body fat. Or better still, get it done at a gym.

There's actually plenty of ways to measure it. Bioelectrical impedance, skinfold, hydrostatic weighing and infrared to name a few. Obviously some methods are more accurate than others.

But what good will a percentage do you OP? Surely you can tell from your general state of health/the mirror whether you need to lose weight or not.

If you're still insistent upon a "test", then calculate your BMI. Unless you're particularly athlectic or muscular, this will give you a fair picture of where you're at.

Yeh dont worry about it Bis is talking gobbledygook to me tbh.

24.5kg/inch is pretty normal, isnt it?

That link I gave you, told you what that equated to.

A BMI of 24.5 is very very near the upper 'normal' boundary but, as people have said, can't be taken too seriously.

BMI is *******s. I'm 170cm short, and weight close to 95kg. I know that's heavy for a guy my size, and my BMI turned out to be something horrendous. I look in the mirror, and all I see is a normal-bodied, big-arsed, wide-hipped bloke. Not someone who's about to keel over and die because they found their BMI to be 33.3% and "obese".

Bioelectric is the method electric scales and devices like that use.
Skinfold is a pretty common method, uses calipers to "grab the flab" as it were.
Hydrostatic... water displacement maybe?
Infrared is another electrical method.

A lot of medical exams still use the skinfold test.

That you're asking indicates you are of marshmallow proportions. Cuddly, yet tasty. Isn't that right bis?

FYI, your BMI isn't a percentage.
