Just been to the doctors this morning cos I have a pain in my hand and I've been told that I have RSI from the exams I've been doing. I've only done 7 so far and I've never had a problem before, why this time when its so important?! I also have to cope with 3 hours of sociology on wednesday. Arggh! This sucks. Is anyone else suffering? If so how are you coping?

Yes go and see your exams officer and ask for special consideration and extra time. You will probably need a note from your doctor in order for the exam board to allow it but maybe not, however, I fell you should be given consideration if its an issue.

Best of luck with the sociology, Im doing it as well
i'm doing sociology too

it's time to cram cram cram. uh oh.

Ive had really bad tendonitis in my right arm (the one I write with) for a while now, my uni sorted out special arrangements for me when I do any exams, I get extra time and breaks if I need them during the exam. Speak to your college/uni ASAP as they might need time to arrange it, I had to arrange mine 4 months in advance.

i suffered from carpal tunnel in my writing wrist for a couple of years. only sometimes used to flair up during exams but i found (before i got my splint) that massaging the area for about ten minutes before helped me.
im guess thats only CTS however

Yes but people can arrange special consideration on the day of the exam if they are ill, this is no different, try to see your exams officer before the day of the exam though if you can! :p:
I have it from doing too much music practice. the only way it go sorted was by going to see a special performing arts doctor who used all kinds of different things. it sometimes comes back, and i noticed it begin to ache in an exam this morning, but hopefully it wont come back full-on.

try to avoid carrying things with that hand (ie bags) and typing can be bad for it too. and it's possible to strap it during the day too, but you mustn't do that at night.

Yes, I know how you feel! I've got it (although probably from spending too much time on the pc, not from actually doing any exams :colondollar:)
You can get special wrist sling things for it. And as someone has said, try asking for extra time.
I've also found that a good trick is to soak you hand/wrist/arm in a basin full of water, as hot as you can possibly stand it. Helped me relax the muscle a bit. (N.B. I don't know how healthy/good for you this actually is - just found it worked for me!)

Thanks everyone. I think I'll go see my exams officer tommorrow. It just worries me that its the £25 for a doctors note. Hmmm

Surely they shouldn't charge you? I had one from my Dr and my specialist without charge (for an ear problem), seems a bit expensive to me. But I have the same problem, I kept my wrist in a sport support that kept the heat in to help the muscle whenever I wasn't doing exams. It was from writing a lot of revision notes (which is the only way I learn effectively) and doing 4 A2 essay subjects, 2 entire AS retakes and 3 AEAs (which I haven't done yet) but I write a lot in exams, which doesn't help!!

I dont understand why they should charge you... I didnt need to pay, my doctor just gave me a note explaining the problem which I then gave to my uni. You'll definately need some sort of proof for your uni to get special arrangments though.
