dec0!
Hi, i`m really unsure about what to do here. I applied for pharmacy because i enjoy chemistry, however i wouldnt say im a very practical person. I wonder whether optometery is a better choice, what is the pay, different areas of optometry etc.

Also it`s not too late to change is it ?!

Well if you have applied to enter university this year then I think you have missed extra, meaning that if you change your mind now or only option for 2006 entry is clearing.
Plus optometry is a very popular course (with fewer places than pharmacy around the country)? But the pay is far better.

You'd find that the financial benefits are equal in both careers

Hey,I'm having the same problem.I really dont know what to apply for, and I've got to get my application in before Jan'10. I heard that pay for opticians is decreasing every year, but the job is a lot more interesting than pharmacy. I dont know what to do! please help!

I would say chose optometry, it is better to have an interesting job then do something boring for the rest of your life

i would say exactly the same thing BUT I'd put pharmacy, where you wrote optometry.

Being an optician is one of the dullest things you could ever do. At least as a pharmacist you can work in the hospital, go on ward round and be a part of the health care team and if you want you can prescribe medicines following training.

What makes being an optician interesting?

my whole family are opticians and optometrists and they all told me thats its boring, uni is boring and the pay is pretty much the same sometimes less.

pharmacy's much more interesting...there's so many different areas you can go into..community,hospital,industry,research etc.

I'm actually considering the same thing, but, I think pharmacy might just be more appealing to me. Just much more flexible.
