Probably, yeah, for exactly the reason you said.

That, and for whatever reason, you might be more relaxed if someone else takes it.

Perfectly normal.

It tends to rise under stress and stuff, but a systolic pressure of 151 is very high!

Yes it does tend to go up especially if you're aware of it being taken - it's particularly worse if you have it done at the doctors, where it's called 'white coat hypertension'.

Most readings for people our age should lie at between 100-150 systolic and 60-90 ish diastolic. To get the most accurate readings you should lie with the cuff on for five minutes before each reading, and take 3 and pick the best.

If you are measuring your blood pressure as a potential indicator of stress then additional stress may be induced from this process of wiring up. Don't ask me why, just does...
When ever I go to the doctors I am asked, 'did you rush here?' and my blood pressure is always a bit high.

I am really not a fan of the doctors so situations that make you a bit nervous can increase your blood pressure or so I am told. If you are drinking fizzy drinks alot that can also affect it as can a lack of exercise.

I have tried to stop drinking so many fizzy drinks and going running more, I think this has made a big difference:rolleyes:
