How are Exeter at accepting lower grades than offers?

Heya,

I applied and accepted International Relations at Exeter on the condition of achieving AAA at a-level  which was my predicted grades. At the time i thought it might 'push me' but my wjec history exam went terribly and i think i will end up getting more like AAB as i got a B last year in this subject at AS.

The entry requirements in the prospectus were detailed as between AAA-BBB do you think this could help their decision in August?

I absolutely love Exeter. So if anyone knows generally how generous they are with acceptance or has any advice would be greatly appreciated!

There's been a couple of threads about this already; it all depends on how everyone else does too. If all the people who have accepted their offers make their grades, then the course will be oversubscribed, and they won't have room to let you in. HOwever, if lots of people miss the grades, they'll have spare places to be given to whoever was closest to achieving the right conditions, ie, if you were 2 marks off the A or something.

I wouldn't worry too much about it now - I'm in exactly the same situation for English Lit, as my Spanish exam went horribly wrong. There's nothing anyone can do until this August, so I'd just enjoy the summer whilst you can!

If you don't meet you're conditional then obviously you'll be informed by letter from exeter, but then what, do you have to ring up or will the letter contain the information for you personally (or are they just yes or no).

No - you definitely ring up and be prepared to drive straight down there for an interview or anything, because if there are spare spaces on the course, then there'll be masses of people begging.
