Electric Shavers?

I was wondering whether the small attatchments (made for close shaving) on electric shavers, shave as close as blade razors do. I use a blade razor and I hate it. I always cut myself and I get fed up with doing it. Also, I tend to spend about 15 minutes, becasue I have to go over each spot more than once. I know that the small attatchments are made for stubble, but I just want to know how close they shave, and whether you can actualy see the stubble afterwards?

my bf uses one and although its not as good as a razor if your stubble doesnt grow too fast it isnt noticable.

I used an electric for a few weeks, before switching back to the wet razor. I found the electric to be ineffective, uncomfortable and, frankly, not worth the hassle.
If you're having to go over the same areas twice with a razor, an electric'll probably make that worse. You're probably better off upgrading your wet razor. Mach 3 Turbo and Wilkinson Sword Quattro are two of the best.

Electric shavers don't shave as close as blade razors.

I reckon its worth saving the money and just being disposables as well. The still shave pretty close.

You'd have to spend a considerable amount to get as good a shave with an electric razor as you would with disposables. I usually use an electric as I'm not too bothered about stubble, but for a clean shave go with a decent disposable - I use Wilkinson Sword Quattro.

I use Wilkinson Sword Quattro.

Ooooo quattro ehhh.

Nothing beats the blade. I've used an electric shaver once or twice before and I've been nothing but displeased with the results.

I prefer electric shavers and havent used one for couple years now as i hate the idea that i may cut myself. Also as my facial hairs grows quite quickly, its so much easier.

Can i just be the first to say: 15 minutes to shave!

You won't get as close a cut as a razor. Do you want the stubble or not? One minute you're talking about a close shave and then whether you can see the stubble.

They don't go close but when time is an issue (i.e. most mornings) they do a decent enough job. A wet razor is still great to have around when you have the time for a proper job though.

Yer thats what i do, most of the time i dont have enough time for a Wet Razor so will use the Electric one so can be out the door Quickly

Yep, that's what I meant when I said I find them uncomfortable. Also I find shaving took much longer with the electric, wheras I can be done with the Mach 3 in two minutes.

ive been using an electric shaver for a couple of years now because i couldn't be bothered wet shaving and electric just seemed easier. however, my skin really isn't great and especially on my neck the shaver is rubbish and in order to actually get rid of all the hair i have to go over the same spot many times and it causes little spots and stuff. if i started wet shaving would these little spots and stuff be a problem, i can just imagine the blade cutting them off or something which sounds painful.

i really would like to have a go a wet shaving though. i just need a razor and shaving cream right? and also, anyone got any comments on the difference between cream, foam and gel? i don't know anything about them, lol!

I have a cheap electric shaver, it kind of sucks, its hard to shave closely with it, its not comfortable and takes ages to use. I have used expensive ones before (£90), whilst i doubt it would be quite as close as a razor (never used a razor) its takes everything off, a razor takes a thing layer of skin off aswell, why would you want that?

If you are going to use electric, make sure you buy a good one, cheap ones are a waste of time in my somewhat limited experince.

if you use a proper razor.. its better.....simple as that. It actualy gets down to the skin..... feels a lot better and is cheaper. it doesnt 'take a layer of skin off' as that idiot said. it just takes off dead skin cells that you wont notice anyway.

Thank you for calling me an idiot, if you did any research on google you would quickly find many websites backing up my statement, its not like i came up with this idea.

Hehe, The-Lennon's right, if you actually shave properly with a wet razor, no skin should come off at all. I use both razor and electric (former when I have time), and neither has ever taken any skin off me. I can't imagine it taking skin off at all really...

Ive shaved now for many many years, so i can say, electric will never get as close, but they are a necessity to anyone with a proper stubbly face.

Some can get nearly as close as a wet shave visually, but to the touch they arent.
They are good for sorting your sidies, and going for the designer stubble look.
I jump out of bed, with little time to get to work cause im lazy, run the shaver over face and im sorted.
Shave wet once, use electric for next 2 or 3 days etc etc. Sorted.

it takes a 'micro' layer of skin off not the whole lot, so you cant actualy see it, and its fairly obvious that an ultra sharp blade run across your face is going to do such a thing.
