food poisoning and my parents

My parents are quite strict Christians and I've been brought up to respect them and 'follow my morals' as my mum would say. I feel a bit upset coz last night I went out to celebrate my 18th birthday (we went for a meal at a French restaurant, so it wasnt exactly a pub crawl lol). My friend ordered us all a small vodka and orange and thats all I drank all night. I had some sausages, and while I was eating them I noticed some raw-looking pink bits so I stopped. But by then I'd already eaten quite a bit of them.

They obviously werent cooked properly because last night I threw up twice after Id gone to bed. My parents knew I'd had a little to drink but now they're being really off with me coz they think I puked because of alcohol. (My mum is against drinking too much) and they say theyre really ashamed of me. I keep trying to explain about the sausages but they obviously dont believe me! And now nobody is talking to me. I feel so miserable, what can i do?

I hate people like that. They assume something without hearing the real reason. "ashamed of you" such BS, you only hit 18 once and even if you did throw up because of alcohol then its not exactly a crime, but because you didnt they seriously need to stop with the assumptions.

Just explain, if they dont buy it then say "believe what you want" because you know why you threw up.
:ditto:

If it's food poisoning you should go to a doctor - and sharpish!!
My nan got food poisoning and it screwed up her brain. She spent the next 5 years in a home for the mentally incapacitated.
Sorry to scare you but I think you should realise how serious food poisoning can get.

Plus if you go to the doc it will prove that you were honest about the sausages.

Thing is, parents like that always try to turn it around and will probably end up saying "you may have not thrown up as much if you hadnt have drunk as much". Anyway, besides point. You shouldn't need to prove yourself.

Hmm i've just spoken to my mum again and she was like 'well i dont think the drink helped matters, it probably made it worse'....which is rubbish
I would go to the drs but I feel a lot better now. Last night was when everything happened really
well i didnt drink until i was 16 lol , but i got to say , if thats all u had , bloody hell i had more than that the first time , it must be the meat , i had that happen to me a few times , sometimes the meat is undercooked or just to spicey
haha reminds me of my parents at christmas dinner and stuff. theyve allways let me drink since i was little but even up til last year it was allways a smaller glass than them and only a half glass. they didnt seem to realise tho that after theyve let me have more than two half glasses they mite have well have poured me a full one lol. apperently they were worried i would have my dads very low alcohol tolerance

First of all you should call the restaurant and explain what happened with the sausages, then say you want to be compensated (at least a refund of your bill) for your ruined evening. If they refuse tell them that you will contact the Environmental Health Department (of your local authority) about their shoddy cooking/kitchen standards.

Doing this should also get it through to your parents that you were not lying about the food poisoning.

Since you got ill so quickly, but then better so quickly too, it probably wasn't food poisoning.

Ye food poisining takes longer to settle in.... and usually lasts a few days so it wasnt food poisining.

If you dont drink alot and even had 4 glasses of vodka with whatever even that can make you sick of you havent got a tolerance to it...

However seems weird, your parents seem awefully to strict...especially since your 18 now...

Ha ha, I've inherited my dad's low tolerance too. My mum can drink him, and me, under the table!
