    Does doing these subjects at A level give you a better chance to get accepted even though you're applying for subjects like Law ?

    Not necessarily. Subjects such as History, English Literature, Languages and Geography are just as valuable. Especially for something like Law; although you don't NEED an essay subject, I think it's beneficial to do one.

    Depends a lot on where you're applying. Oxbridge tend to focus on ability to learn and adapt - can't be sciences for logic and reasoning. But subjects like history and languages are really good for analytics - also important for law.
