I graduated in 2012 with a low 2.2 in psychology, since then I have trained as a cognitive behavioural hypnotherapist. I would like to pursue a career as a mental health nurse and will be applying for September 2014 start.

I realise alot of courses do accept applicants with a 2.2 degree. However as I achieved a low 2.2. I am wondering am I wasting my time applying for the pgdip.

Shall I apply for the bsc instead?

Regarding the low 2.2, this was purely down to working too much and procrastinating. Since studying Cognitive Behaviourally Hypnotherapy, I have managed to overcome procrastinating, it was mainly down to a fear of failing.

The universities I am considering applying to are Kingston, LSBU, city uni, middlesex and I would like to apply to Kings College London, but due to the competition, I am wondering whether I would even be considered.

    Hello!

This doesn't exactly answer your question but I'm pretty much in the same boat and vague reassurance might help! I also have a 2:2 in clinical psychology and have spend the last year working in a psychiatric hospital. I'm not exactly sure how competitive a PG Dip is? :-/ I'm currently shrinking down the list of university options but is it not possible to apply for both PG Dips and BSCs? Maybe have a regular degree option as a back up?

I did in the end, thanks for the suggestion.

Can I ask what experience you had when you started at the psychiatric hospital? I have worked a lot for both nhs and private hospitals. However, its always been in reception and admin roles. Whereas I would prefer to do something that was related to nursing such as a healthcare assistant or support worker.
