The past couple of nights I've slept really badly. Usually I don't have much trouble getting to sleep, but it's like something is stopping me from sleeping. Even when my flat is quiet after everyone else goes to bed (I'm a first year uni student in halls), I still can't get to sleep. It's not that I haven't been tired either - my body just won't go to sleep for some reason!

I don't think I slept at all last night, despite going to bed about 10, and I feel awful today. I'm really sluggish and disorientated. I have a headache and feel sick too. I kind of just want to curl up in a corner and cry right now.

    What should I do?

I feel like I might not make it til the end of the day, but I don't want to nap because I know it'll screw my sleep pattern up completely. I'm worried that I won't sleep tonight either, and everything will just get worse.

    Help.

    See a doctor!

There's masses of reasons why you're not sleeping. It could be anything from underlying stress to onset of diabetes!

I don't want to scare you! (I just realised how scary that sounded!) but I just wanted to emphasise the vast amount of reasonings behind not sleeping!

    Hope it goes well!

Taking an hour nap won't hurt. If that headache's still there, take a paracetamol. Listen to Tchaikovsky's Les Saisons, helps set you into the mood...

A 20 minute lie down on my bed always seems to work for me when I'm feeling sluggish, even if I don't actually sleep

Disagree, I think some Debussy would be better
