# How to express a date algebraically?Watch

basically how would you express a date such as 09/10/13 as an algebraic expression (not dd/mm/yy).

Do you mean counting the number of days from a reference point (eg, Jan 1st 1950)? If so, you could adapt dada55's suggestion (see above) but you'd have to figure out how to handle leap years as well. It's doable in Excel, but an algebraic formula would look very untidy.

I realised my answer was wrong straight after I wrote it, but I liked it as a suggestion so much, I didn't edit it :P. If only all months had the same number of days and there were no leap years.
