There are so many things wrong with my relationship with this man, too many to list. However, we are in a cooling off period which has lasted a year and a half. Despite this long amount of time, I still think about him every day and I still believe I might never find someone else like him... he is near perfect in my eyes.
Does this mean he is 'the one'?

Unless his willing to devote his life to you in marriage, imo I wouldn't be too optimistic.

you contradicted yourself, how can he be perfect but there are things wrong with the relationship, you need to work out which one it is.

It might help if you list a couple. Being in love with someone doesn't mean they are 'the one' - if we have more details we can help you by giving an unbiased view.

However, I was always told 'never sail a leaky boat'.

A year and a half is a long time for a cooling off period. Any more information?

I used to feel that way about a guy, for well over a year. Then he started dating my friend, so I could no longer tell anyone about my feelings. 18 months later, they are engaged and I am still very occasionally see pictures of him and think for a millisecond "what if" but now, finally, I am in a place where I think I properly fancy another guy. Those feelings do pass. But you need some kind of closure, at least in your head, first.
