Hi Northfield,

The NOVUS course is offered in partnership with major employers and, yes it is true that if you gain a place on the course and graduate with a 2:1 or above, you are guaranteed a graduate position with one of the backing companies. These include major retailers like Sainsbury's, B&Q, Dixon's and yes - ASOS. Manufacturers and well known logistics companies such as DHL and Wincanton also support the scheme. There are lots of other benefits. See novus.uk.com for details.

Hi Northfield,

Good question. First of all the course itself has been designed collaboratively with industry partners to ensure that the knowledge, skills and competencies valued by industry are comprehensively covered. The companies support for guest lectures, industry-led seminars and site visits and also provide work experience opportunities and a salaried placement in the third year - and of course there is the guarantee of a graduate job with one of them.

Another really good feature is industry mentoring - we have just gone through mentor allocations for this year and have students mentored by the logistics directors of Dixons Retail and ASOS as well as the supply chain director of Travis Perkins and commercial / operations directors of big logistics companies. They are there to held students with their professional development.

There is no other business management course that offers anything like the same opportunities - and of course it is based at the University of the Year - Huddersfield!

Another great question! The companies have joined together through the NOVUS scheme to encourage more talented young people to study and work in the supply chain - a vital area of business management. Supply chain management covers core business activities like sourcing, manufacturing, logistics, inventory management and all the planning and forecasting that takes place to ensure the supply of goods and services. The basic issue is that lots of people study subjects like business management, marketing and finance where graduates outnumber opportunities, but few choose supply chain management (because they generally don't know about it), but the opportunities are phenomenal. Current graduates in this area are highly sought after and the companies want more!

Email me on [email protected] if I can help further.
