We all know it. The education system fails kids year on year by failing to provide them with effective careers advice. School is merely about passing exams and meeting league table targets. And if you think Gove is going to change New Labour's broken system, you must be the kind of person who'd defend your political party even if they came out as ritual child killers.

What would an effective careers guidance education entail? And how could it be implemented quickly and efficiently?

Perhaps copying the German, Swiss and Austrian education system and having apprenticeships imbedded within schools or opening "Realschules" here.
