I am currently in year 10 and I am doing my first exams. In some subjects they gave us predicted grades based on our KS2 grades. The thing is, I am worried about is that I didn't do too well in primary school and I'm afraid that these grades will be sent off to my 6th form when I apply for one. Is it true that these predicted grades based off KS2 will be sent off and can these grades change as I progress through the year?

A lot of schools use KS2 results to predict performance at GCSE, but these predicted grades are only used internally for bureaucracy. Teachers know that these predicted grades are nonsense, and they will not be sent off to sixth forms. Some time in early Year 11 (probably after your December mocks), your teachers will give you predicted grades set by your teachers themselves. These are the ones you will send off to sixth forms.

If you work hard you can change them, because some of mine were low and they improved throughout the year. It might also be worth talking to your teachers about this to make sure that they know that you feel you are capable of doing better than the original predicted grades. However, all schools do it differently so I'm only speaking from my own experience here. Hope this helps

Predicted grades don't matter, just work really hard to get the grade you want
