I'm in a dilemma. I'm currently up for interview for two very different jobs

Job a- Education based job, 9-5 (currently work shifts so this is a postitive!). It's the same pay as i'm on now, but I will loose my unsocial hours bonus. I'd find this job very rewarding it's where I want to go specialise in eventually and will lead to a higher pay band after 2 years.

Job b- Managerial based job, increased pay band. I'll enjoy it and the challenge but getting quite tired with shift work and the effects it has on my body/mood. I'll still get a small education based role but not as predominent as Job a, however i will recieved £150-£250 a month extra in the pay packet!!

I may end up getting neither job however slightly worried as to which one I'd want to most. If you had to choose what would you go for? Job satisfaction or slightly lower satisfaction, but with a bit more money in the bank!

In what ways will that extra £150-£250 a month make a difference to your life? If you're struggling for money then it's probably worth it, but if not having a job you enjoy more is probably going to make your life better on balance.

I'd go for job a, especially knowing that there is the chance of a pay increase after 2 years. Ultimately, you have to be happy otherwise your life will be a chore. I can't wait to get shot of shift work, it plays havoc with the mind and body!

Definitely choose enjoying your job. Happiness is the only thing in the entire world that matters, and everything we do is a means to pursuing that end. We want lots of money because we think money will make us happy, but if it is at the expense of our happiness at work then that defeats the purpose. You will spend half of your waking life at your job, so it seems a good idea to make that half of your life as happy as possible
